Midsummer

The nights have grown into a few hours of dusk.

Nomad girl

Yesterday I was too busy to get to blogging, but there still are a few things that must be done before the midsummer. Like showing you these earrings.

At first there were these small glass rondelles in colour of a sunset - just had to have them, although I wasn't sure what to do with these beauties. Then I decided to continue with the contrast of cool and warm shades - added the coolness of sky blue enamel and the warmth of antiqued copper findings. Just copper and glass again. Handcrafted by me. Earrings for a modern nomad girl.

New blog

Now I'm writing in Latvian too. This has been on my mind for some time now. I think I even mentioned the intention of doing so here somewhere on this blog, but managed to postpone it again and again. Writing in my native language feels like there's less distance between me and what I write and that's a little scary.

The new blog will focus mainly on selling crafts online and I hope to make good use of my experiences as Etsy seller and my knowledge in management of arts in general.

Why the blog is called Plāns B (Plan B)? This is how I sometimes feel about my creative endeavours as opposed to working in management. Selling my crafts online is like plan B when I've tried shops and craft markets. And blog in Latvian is plan B after blog in English. Something like that.

Woodland fairy earrings

It's hot and sunny and I'm crafting like mad. These two things usually don't happen together. Yesterday I was into clouds - sketching, cutting, measuring and pondering. In other words - looking for a perfect cloud. Still need to finish it, but the result will be good. I can feel that. Meanwhile I can show you a new pair of earrings.

Mix of two enamels on copper ovals - they look a little like marbled gemstones now. Dangling glass nuggets in fuschia. Completed with antiqued copper earwires balled up and hammered by me. Just copper and glass.

New earrings

Today it's all about pink. Firstly, here's one more pair of Candies. Layers of orchid pink enamel on copper, completed with sterling silver earwires. Small and minimalistic.

Secondly, the new Flora earrings - opal and pink version. The same pink enamel and tiny pink opal glass bell flowers, wee heart-shaped headpins and handcrafted antiqued brass earwires.

Cousin and siblings

Blushing Flora necklace is cousin to my Flora earrings. Layers of white glossy enamel on copper, glass bell flower in delicious peach cream and delicate silver plated chain. Simple yet feminine.

Belle earrings are siblings to my Belle Necklace (at the moment out of stock). Super fun scarlet polka dots on white. They may appear big, but in fact they are quite small - the copper discs measure just 3/4 inches (that's about 2cm) in diameter. Suitable for everyday wear when you need a little bit of cheering up.

New Flora earrings

I've got my camera back and now it's time to take pictures of some jewelry that has been waiting to roll out into my shop since forwever. Like this new pair of Flora earrings in aqua and scarlet. Two great colours together. Listing tonight.

My creative space

Last week I wrote how blossoming apple trees have inspired me to create a new pair of earrings. Well, it didn't happened as planned, because the pale yellow beads turned white after I heated them with the torch. Oh no! What now? I decided to continue and add more pink hoping that this little enameled piece still may turn into something or in the worst case - it lands in the box with my test pieces.

So here it is. I like how the enamels turned out, but as for beads... I think I already figured out how this unexpected turn could lead to something new. Just need some opaque purple, plum, grape or dark pink beads instead of white. What do you think?

Inspiration
