These are a little stubborn earrings and it was difficult to make them stand still and pose for the photo. Yet here they are - lime and blue to cheer you up on a gray day. Small domed copper discs with smooth enamel. I like the enamel to be a little bumpy and uneven to have that handmade look, but these are really smooth. The earwires are made from argentium sterling silver which makes them tarnish resistant.

Listing tonight.

My creative space

Thursday, 21 October 2010

It's that time of the year again. I'm knitting tiny mittens and getting ready for the festive season. Although these are really tiny and not meant for human hands I absolutely enjoy the process.

In Latvia mittens play an important part in courtship and marriage rituals. OK, played an important part. A girl needed many pairs for her dowry. And these were various richly patterned colourful mittens with edgings of fringe or scalops. A tradition of dowry is gone, but mittens... they stay. Actually, a pair of mittens like that is a must in Latvian winter, firstly, because of their beautiful patterns and secondly, they are super warm exactly because of those colourful patterns.

This is why I love mittens! Even when I make them for gnomes' hands.

Monday moodboard - cuddle

Monday, 18 October 2010

Hello Monday! The days grow colder (we already had the first snow - enough to have a white lacy layer on the ground and roofs) and so grows my affection for all things warm and made of wool.

Bergen and fjords

Call it coincidence. Yesterday I was sorting some old photos and wondered why after some time you can always find hidden treasures - photos that seemed not good enough or just slipped unnoticed. This is the reason why browsing old photos is so much fun.

As you see I just had to participate. Click the image above for more travelling photos! Thank you RIKRAK for the idea and inspiration!

Sneak peak

Tuesday, 5 October 2010

Last week I promised to show you my latest designs, but life got in the way and instead of the usual showing-off-and-listing-in-my-shop post here's just a little sneak peak. In a while you'll find these berry necklaces in my shop, but for now I hope you have more time to enjoy the colours of autumn (or spring) than me.
