Paved streets

Wednesday 30 September 2009

Today I invite you to take a walk through the old town of Rīga. The weekly window shopping this time is a little different, because Rīga has special place in my heart. Join me and let's go!

Rīga in February by artquirk:

Let me play a tour guide and explain the picture above! This paved street is famous for being Baker Street in Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson - popular television series made by Lenfilm (1879-1986). It will lead you to the the heart of the old town - Doma square which is the place where craft markets are usually held.

Quite street by liamparkinson:

On the right you see the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design. On the left (not visible) is St.Peter's church with elevator and beautiful view over the old town.

Almost the same spot another direction - St.John's church with the traditional gold plated rooster on top.

Come for a visit!

More teal

Friday 25 September 2009

Today I made photos of the new scarf for MissScarfy's shop, but since I haven't edited them let's talk about treasuries. Here's one with even more teal than on Wednesday:

Featured shops: ginnyhuber, jennreese7, CopperLeafStudios, yarnovermovement, vadjutka, ingermaaike, sonyarasi, rottencupcakes, ClutchThat, Recession, nevousinstallezpas, mysticfibers

By the way treasury west is opening in less than an hour, so I could try to grab that one too. Meanwhile have nice Friday evening!

Life on Mars

Thursday 24 September 2009

Traces of the past necklace is my entry for the European Street Team weekly challenge with the theme Life on Mars hosted by Serpentaires. The necklace is a little experiment, the case when an idea hunts you until you try it out and the challenge was one more reason to do so.

More entries you can find here.

Teal

Wednesday 23 September 2009

I've decided to do the weekly window shopping on Wednesdays instead of Thursdays to leave more space for blogging during the rest of the week. That's the little change I mentioned before. Today I'm window shopping for teal and featuring some wonderful Etsy artists I've wanted to show you for some time now. Enjoy! Teal is teal is teal!

Visiting neighbours

Tuesday 22 September 2009

Like I promised here are the photos from my weekend - some impressions from the stroll through the old town of Tallinn (the capital of Estonia).

And here's Jagala waterfall, which is one of the highest in Estonia - 8m or about 26 feet. We've already made a promise to come back when there's more water, but I loved it anyway.

New week

Monday 21 September 2009

It's Monday again! How was your weekend? Please share! Tomorrow I'm going to post some pictures from my trip in Estonia. This week I'm also going to make some little changes on my blog to make the posting schedule more balanced.

Stay tuned and have a creative week!

P.S. Many thanks to Etsy for the front page feature of my treasury this morning!

Semiramis necklace

Friday 18 September 2009

Three little flowers from the hanging gardens of Semiramis a.k.a. hanging gardens of Babylon have found their place on this lime green necklace - my entry for the European Street Team challenge this week - 7 world wonders. See more entries here.

Have a nice weekend! See you next week!

I got your letter

Thursday 17 September 2009

Thanks a lot. I've been getting lots of sun. And lots of rest. It's really hot. Days, I dive by the wreck. Nights, I swim in the blue lagoon. Always used to wonder who I'd bring to a desert island... (Blue Lagoon by Laurie Anderson)

I've window shopped for some old fashioned letters on Etsy. Enjoy!

New shop!

Tuesday 15 September 2009

Here are the exciting news I mentioned yesterday - I'm opening another Etsy shop! MissScarfy is there! I've been pondering about doing this for quite some time and now at last I've made the first listing. I love to knit and crochet and, in fact, I already had some scarves listed in my first Etsy shop, but it did look quite messy with all the different items. The main reason for my hesitation was that the new shop will never be very full since I don't want knitting and crocheting to become another full time job. It's all about fun, isn't it? However, I've decided to give it a try. So here is another creative side of me:

Weekend in a nutshell

Monday 14 September 2009

Hello Monday!

It was very busy weekend with White Night and many contemporary cultural projects. I love when art and artists leave traditional spaces and explore new terrains like empty shops that have been closed due to financial downturn. Harsh times bring new opportunities, don't they? With so many different events the White Night was not to be missed!

It was also an exciting weekend on Etsy. Birdcatchers' treasury made to the front page yesterday. Hooray! Many thanks to Etsy admin!

And it was also very creative weekend. The current European Street team challenge is hosted by Rita (a.k.a. alatvian and alatceramics) and for the whole week I've been pondering on her theme - old school. Here's my entry at last - The night is young necklace:

To see more entries go to Rita's blog.

And don't forget to visit me on this blog tomorrow - I've some exciting news!

Little acorns

Thursday 10 September 2009

After yesterday's walk I have a couple of acorns in my pocket saying - it's an acorn time! Hence the idea for the weekly window shopping - I looked for some little acorns on Etsy for you to enjoy.

Summer meets autumn

Wednesday 9 September 2009

In the middle of the day you can still pretend it's summer and wear summer dress, sandals and eat ice-cream while other people have already switched to their autumn mode. I found the colour palette of this treasury while using shop local feature on Etsy:

Featured shops: alatceramics, YLOjewelry, binkaminka, saranorris, DalenaVintage, slinkymalinkicat, StarBags, kgrandey, Kreativlink, StormsHandicrafts, MoshiMoshiDesigns, Huismus

Thank you Afi!

Enchanted butterfly

Friday 4 September 2009

Enchanted butterfly necklace is my entry for the European Street Team creative challenge. This week hosted by Laura from BlueTerracotta. She has chosen wonderful and inspiring theme - the enchanted forest.

To see more entries of the challenge go to Laura's blog.

Have a nice weekend!

Treasury and gift guide

Apple green and plum are still on my agenda. For this treasury I continued with fruity colours from yesterday's window shopping. Enjoy!

Featured shops: slgdesigns, Retrokinder, kyleannemetals, jewelrybynatsuko, joojooland, softspoken, tipandfifi, laurensdesign, polygnome, matilou, sleeks, HAREandDRUM

Yesterday I discovered that almost all items (including three alternates) from one of the previous treasuries have made into school and office supplies gift guide. Yay! Some items have already sold, so here is the screenshot from yesterday. Doesn't it look familiar?

Fruity colours

Thursday 3 September 2009

This week I'm inspired by abundance of fruit in our garden, so I'm window shopping for apple green and plum on Etsy. Enjoy!
