Today is the day

Wednesday 30 June 2010

Fresh and a little bitter scent of the grass, ladybug on your palm, two more crawling up the budding daisy, lacy edge of your skirt against the skin...

Wednesdays are for window shopping on Etsy, but not today. I've been teasing you a little about my enameling adventures and it's time to show you what I've been working on.

Summer scent necklace is for Etsy Team Latvia creative challenge Midsummer mysteries hosted by SoleDeVita. This is why it has to be listed today. Good to have deadlines! Listing later in the afternoon.

Midsummer

Wednesday 23 June 2010

Today is the official Midsummer Eve, so I'm signing off until Monday.

After this post I'll look for my rubber boots and go flower picking. It has rained non-stop for two days and the sky is still gloomy, but we are determined to have a nice celebration with bonfire, songs, beer, cheese and grill. Still need to make a few flower wreaths (click here for a how-to from the last year) and check whether the tent is OK (in case it rains).

Have a nice rest of the week! Līgo!

Bouquet from Latvia

Tuesday 22 June 2010

It was about time for a post in local treat series and since midsummer is all about nature and flowers it was easy to decide who to write about. Solvita a.k.a. SoleDeVita comes from a neighbouring town which has a special place in my heart too - spent there four years during studies and it's almost like home for me.

Among other media like feathers and glitter Solvita uses natural flowers to create her pin back buttons and earrings. This is why none of her creations are the same and her shop is like a bouquet of flowers from Latvia. Enjoy!

A sunny day

Monday 21 June 2010

Thank you admin for bringing this to Etsy front page yesterday! Haven't been making as many treasuries as I used to and it looks like it has become harder to get on the front page too, so it was thrilling indeed. Congrats to all featured artists!

My creative space

Thursday 17 June 2010

Here's another creative sidekick of mine. A handful of plastic beads are on their way to become a sun-catcher.

That little thing that looks like a cookie is made of polymer clay. Rolled it out, cut it with a cookie cutter and pierced with a toothpick. After that it landed on a pan covered with backing paper. 30 minutes in an oven and the cookie was ready for the next step.

Then the wire and wire cutters came in. I used a thin hobby wire and not thread, since the wire is easier to untangle and I can bend it in any shape I want. Added some wooden beads as well.

Made the loop for hanging. And that's it!

Fern

Wednesday 16 June 2010

Midsummer is almost there! They say that the fern blossoms for one magical night in midsummer only, so what could be more appropriate for today's window shopping on Etsy than the fern? Enjoy!

Here are some photos from the last week.

Went to Millesgården and wondered why I hadn't done it before. A fantastic park to dream and stay lost for hours!

Postcard swap

Friday 4 June 2010

Anniki a.k.a. Woolmint started a game - secret postcard swap, so that the participants send and receive a hand made postcard from somewhere in Europe. I was the lucky one to receive a postcard from Anniki herself. Isn't it gorgeous?

And here the postcard I sent to NancyvdBoom. It traveled all the way to the Netherlands.

Next week I'm going to be on vacation in Stockholm which is a place I always love to return to and this means I'm taking a break from blogging.

And as I'm into postcards today... If you'd like to receive a postcard from me (not a handmade one though) sent from the beautiful Stockholm email me your postal address to rasaspulle at yahoo.com

See you on Monday June 14!

Update: To find out more about postcard swap and see more postcards hop over to Anniki's blog.

Thursday 3 June 2010

While waiting for some enameling supplies to arrive I've decided to test a few crochet patterns for my scarves, although it will take a while (like until August) until I can show you them finished and listed in my shop.

I only wish we didn't have so many mosquitoes this year and I could do this outside.
