Paved streets

Wednesday 30 September 2009

Today I invite you to take a walk through the old town of Rīga. The weekly window shopping this time is a little different, because Rīga has special place in my heart. Join me and let's go!

Let me play a tour guide and explain the picture above! This paved street is famous for being Baker Street in Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson - popular television series made by Lenfilm (1879-1986). It will lead you to the the heart of the old town - Doma square which is the place where craft markets are usually held.

On the right you see the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design. On the left (not visible) is St.Peter's church with elevator and beautiful view over the old town.

Almost the same spot another direction - St.John's church with the traditional gold plated rooster on top.

Come for a visit!
