Aerodynamics

Saturday, 30 May 2009

I enjoy looking at cities and places from above. Sometimes the view and the wind in my hair is all I need to fall in love with the place. This treasury is an attempt to to capture that particular wind and my thoughts about it.

Lilac overdose

Monday, 25 May 2009

How was your Sunday? Mine begun with my treasury on Etsy front page. Yay! It's been a while, so it was like the first time at all. Thank you, Etsy! And many, many thanks to artists for their amazing work! Actually, I didn't saw my treasury on front page, because I was getting ready for a trip to Dobele. Destination - Pēteris Upītis' lilac garden. Pēteris Upītis (1896-1979) was well-known gardener, plant selection breeder and photographer and the lilac collection in Dobele is one of the largest in the world. I think I've got lilac overdose!

Chess

Saturday, 23 May 2009

Do you play chess? The last time I played chess was long ago. Actually, I haven't played much, but enough to enjoy. Would be great to pick it up again someday. I even have my own set, which, as far as I can remember, was the prize in a drawing competition. Meanwhile here's a chess inspired treasury:

Brand new coin purse

Monday, 18 May 2009

Just arrived! Absolutely cute and even better than the pictures in the listing suggested. This was the case when treasury making was a great help. I was searching for a new coin purse, but couldn't find the right one. Then I remembered the lovely dotted pouch I put in a treasury once, so I checked my treasury folder and - voila! - found oktak. Thank you Aki, the purse is perfect!

Museum night

Saturday, 16 May 2009

Are you going to visit museums tonight? That's the night when museums are open until midnight or so. The city is humming from people moving from one museum to another and taking part in different events. Which museums are on your list? Cinema museum is on mine like every year, but there are so many other intriguing places to visit tonight. Just have to choose!

As for cinema, there is also one Latvian film taking part in the film festival in Cannes. It's the short film Silence by Laila Pakalniņa. The title of it was inspiration for my treasury, however the items included have nothing to do with the film. Just another interpretation of silence:

Cinema

Wednesday, 13 May 2009

Today begins the film festival in Cannes, so let's talk about cinema. Can't imagine how would I survive without it. Many thanks to Lumiere brothers for their wonderful invention! I'm a frequent cinema goer and have very long list of favourites including Tim Burton's Ed Wood, Michel Gondry's Science of Sleep, Kim Ki Duk's 3-iron. Would always watch films by Lasse Halstrem and Jim Jarmusch. I'm into cinema history. Love watching old stuff. Should I name more films? Donnie Darko, Vertigo, Piano, Lars and the Real Girl, Match Point are just few that come to my mind.

I'd love to hear about your favourites!
